Everyone is born with a sin nature. Because of our sin, we are unable to have a relationship with God without forgiveness.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23 NIV

A Gift

We have a problem. There is nothing that we can do to earn God’s forgiveness – it must be given. Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice, a gift, so that we could be forgiven.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8 NIV

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23 NIV

We must accept this free gift from God by praying to receive Jesus as your Savior.

Here’s an example of a prayer that you might pray:

“Lord, I know that I am a sinner. I recognize that you died to pay the debt for my sins. I want to ask you to forgive my sins and be the Lord of my life.”

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Baptism shows others that you have been made new. It represents your old sinful life being washed clean because of your faith in Jesus. We do baptisms several times throughout the year, and a large group baptism in the Yellowstone River in August of every year.

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Romans 6:4

Elevation is a church of groups. We believe that life and growth happen best in a small group. We have three main semesters each year where we do a major group launch. Those are in September, January, and April. We also have groups that go year-round.

We believe that the best way to get to know someone is to spend time with them. That is certainly true of your relationship with God. One of the best ways to get to know Him is by reading your Bible. The Bible says of itself that it is living and active. Hebrews 4:12. It comes alive and becomes personal to you as you read it.

If you are just starting out, we recommend that you start in the Gospel of John, which is in the fourth book of the New Testament. This book was written by one of Jesus’ best friends-he even called himself Jesus’ favorite. It is a great place to start to understand the nature of Jesus and get a feel for Who He was and why He was here. Click or tap the here to be linked to the free digital version of the bible.

Prayer is an ongoing conversation between you and God. He loves you and wants to hear from you. The Bible explains prayer in many ways. Jesus invited you to pray this prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13 NIV:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven
Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Prayer doesn’t have to be formal or rehearsed, you are invited to come to God at any time and in any way. The Bible encourages you to Ask, Seek and Knock, Matthew 7:7.

Jesus often went off by Himself to pray, and many times Paul, the author of many of the New Testament books, models beautiful prayers acknowledging the magnificence of God. There is no wrong way to do it, what is important is that you do meet with

God daily and connect with Him.

As we begin to grow in our knowledge of God, we see a pattern in His nature. He blesses us so that we can bless other people. As a matter of fact, the only time in the entire Bible that you are invited to test God on anything is through your giving.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
Malachi 3:10.

We believe that serving at your church is an outward expression of your love for Jesus and your desire to help other people come alive in Christ. We have many areas where you can plug in and serve. We have found that serving is a great way to get to know other believers and to get time with some great people.
